Fear No Evil

(72" x 144") (2) panels with recessed insert, acrylic and polymer on canvas. The lower portion of the left panel has been disassembled while the upper portion remains intact. The right panel has been permanently disassembled.

In the top left panel, five female figures; the forgotten women of the past, stand as sentinels watching the viewer. In the recess of the dark lower panel, there is a reference to Hans Holbein, the Younger's 1521 AD painting of "Christ in the Tomb". Society's and organized religion's tolerance of violence through control and dominance over women is caller into question. The "Fear No Evil" words written below the figure are often the only remaining protection from impending physical and psychological violence.

The right panel, which no longer exists, included the Lord's Prayer laser printed in 72 point type face and transferred to a polymer film. This film was then hand sown to the canvas. I did this in remembrance of my then recently deceased father. Under the prayer was a laser printed re-colored web photo of the Pope. This panel calls on our institutions to regain control over evil and help protect us from the violence of our age,
